The book "Las personas y los nuevos materialismos en la construcción de relatos. Historias de vida en educación" compiles the contributions from the IX Jornadas de Historias de vida en Educación, held on 18 and 19 April 2024, at the MUVIM in Valencia. This book gathers diverse perspectives and experiences shared during the conference, offering a comprehensive view of how people and new materialisms influence the construction of biographical narratives in the educational field. The contributions reflect the richness and complexity of life stories as a tool for research and pedagogical reflection. This book focuses on the fundamental role of people and references in the construction of educational biographical narratives, delving into how life stories are often linked to multiple individuals and how artistic, musical, scientific, technological, and cinematic references can enrich forms of narration. This perspective allows for advancement in topics such as representation policies, ways of narrating (oneself), the relationship with the Other, the reconstruction of lived experiences, and the role of visual strategies in biographical narratives. The book is structured into four parts: People who intersect in life stories. Materialities as devices for incorporating influences. Associations, groups, and collectives as triggers for encounters and shared stories. Absent people who become present in life stories. The work constitutes a valuable resource for those interested in biographical-narrative research in education, providing new perspectives on how personal interactions, material objects, and sociocultural contexts shape our vital and educational narratives. This innovative approach invites us to rethink qualitative research methodologies in education and to explore new ways of understanding and representing educational experiences through life stories.
