The town of Morella was greatly affected by the wars that shook Spanish society in the 18th and 19th centuries. On each occasion, numerous military cartographers drew up maps and plans of the population and its surroundings. In the same way, from the first Carlist war an abundant literature related to military conflicts was generated, illustrated with lithographs of the towns that were the protagonists of the most notable military events, which is why we often find images of the imposing silhouette of Morella. Until now, it has been possible to gather a large collection of more than a hundred drawings, engravings and lithographs of Morella, little or nothing known, from which sixty pieces have been selected, ordered chronologically and studied for the first time, in order to properly place Morella in the place that corresponds to it in the field of historical cartography of the Iberian Peninsula.
