Menander is the main author of New Comedy, along with Aristophanes. His comedies laid the foundations of later Western theater, as well as the plots of love entanglement that still triumph in the various current literary and audiovisual media. This volume, in a bilingual edition with collated text and comments, presents "The Unsociable" (or "The Misanthrope), the only one that has survived in its entirety, and "The Samian".
